A HUGE crowd of expectant worshippers last weekend thronged the Our Daily Manna Prayer Ministry, Ori-Oke, Ogudu, a suburb of Lagos for a breakthrough prayer and anointing to end an annual seven-day fasting and prayer programme with the publisher of the popular Christian Daily devotional, Daily Manna and pastor of Our Daily Manna Mountain Prayer Ministry, Rev. Chris Kwakpovwe.

Every available space in the church auditorium and the adjoining neighbourhood was taken as worshippers, some of whom had arrived the venue the previous night for the July World Anointing Service 2015 scheduled for 7.30 a.m., from different parts of Lagos and nearby states eagerly waited in high expectation.

Like most Christian spiritual exercises the programme began with an opening prayer by one of the ministers and immediately after the Mountain Choir took over, leading the large congregation in a praise and worship session to the delight of the crowd.

The Children’s Choir also thrilled the crowd with their orchestral instrumention.

The men, women and children sang and danced heartily  but the atmosphere was further charged when the MPM General Overseer, Rev. Chris Kwakpovwe mounted the pulpit after the choir ministration as the eager crowd responded with a shout for joy.

The cleric, who was stunned by the huge crowd, used the occasion to condemn the United States Supreme Court recent ruling guaranteeing same-sex marriage in the United States of America, saying “it is not of God. Marriage is meant for a man and a woman, not a man and another man or a woman and another woman”.

Kwakpovwe therefore urged the Muhammadu Buhari Administration distance itself from such unholy legislations and not to have anything to do with same-sex marriage, arguing that it was not scriptural and therefore un-Godly.

“What we are saying is that the act is barbaric, it is not scriptural; it is not of God and the Church of God kicks against it. The Bible is the final authority on marriage and one can conclude that same sex marriage and such anti-social behaviours are signs of the end time,” he said.

Delivering a sermon titled: “I shall be noticed”, the man of God enjoined his listeners to always tune to God’s frequency and give their attention to prayers.

According to him, Christians must at all times live in accordance with the injunctions of the Bible, which is the constitution of God.
