Two men, Kolade Ajayi, 29, and Ahmed Adekunjo, 21, on Tuesday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, for allegedly breaking into a church and stealing property worth N300,000.
The accused who had no fixed address and occupation pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the offences were committed on June 9 at about 3.00pm at Iporo-Ake.
He said that the duo broke into Triumphant Life Covenant Church and stole four loudspeakers, one mixer and one keyboard, all valued at N300,000.
“Ajayi and Adekunjo broke into the house of worship and stole various instruments of worship,” the prosecutor said.
Ozimini said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 415 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Adekunte, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till July 18 for mention.
