Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has postponed the flag-off of the 2014 family pilgrimage exercise.
NCPC said in a statement that: “In view of the current escalating crisis in Israel and Gaza, it is now practically impossible to commence the airlift of intending pilgrims to Israel under our Family Pilgrimage programme.
“Consequently, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has decided to suspend the flag-off of the airlift of intending pilgrims earlier scheduled for 29 July, 2014.”
The statement added that the security and welfare of the intending pilgrims are very paramount and should not be comprised, adding that the airlift would start as soon as peace returns to Israel and Gaza.
