The Ogun State police invaded the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at Kilometre 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and arrested 236 alleged criminals inside the auditorium.
The recent raid was as a result of intelligence informing the police that criminals and hoodlums now use the camp to hide from security operatives.
Confirming the story, state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Muyiwa Adejobi said: “Our men carried out the raid in the early hours of today (yesterday) after a series of report that criminals have taken the RCCG Auditorium as hideout. As early as 2am, they arrested 236 persons, 165 are males while 71 are females.”
He further revealed that the suspects are now being screened to ascertain the genuine members who came for prayers and the real criminals.
He revealed that the innocent ones will be released and warned against the rising criminal cases of stealing, rape, kidnapping and prostitution taking place in the auditorium.
