On 10th September, 2015 at about 6:45pm, Police operatives tracked down a kidnap syndicate to their hideout at Oratta Forest, Owerri where a male Pastor (name withheld) earlier abducted on 9th September, 2015 at about 5:20pm along MCC Road Owerri was being kept.
The syndicate which had earlier demanded a Twenty Five Million Naira (N25m) ransom from the victim’s family abandoned the victim and took to their heels upon sighting the approaching Police team. The victim was safely rescued and no ransom paid, two (2) locally-made pistols, one Pump Action gun with eight (8) cartridges were recovered at the hideout.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the hoodlums, State CIID Owerri is investigating.
