As part of the surge in popularity, participation and investment that gospel music in Nigeria has witnessed in recent years, theGospel Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (GOMAN) has launched the Music and Entertainment Gospel Awards, MEGA (aka Mega Awards).
The Awards was launched to recognize and celebrate outstanding performances and exemplary talents in Nigerian gospel music community, involving Nigerians both within the country and outside.
The MEGA Awards is being designed to attract icons, top professional and amateur artistes, administrators, leading industry operators and celebrities from both Nigeria and across the world. These activities present excellent opportunities for sponsors and venture-supporters to be associated with Nigeria’s high profile and mass driven entertainment celebrities and events.
The event has also been scheduled for a tentative November 9 date. Entries are eligible to be submitted for adjudication from Wednesday, May 8 2013; with the attention of the judging panel on works released between January 1, 2012 and May 7, 2013. Physical submission can be made at the MEGA (Awards Secretariat), 28, Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos
Music Performers will be up for honours in categories such as Instrumental Gospel Album Of The Year, Traditional Choir Of The Year, Artwork (Cover) Of The Year as well as the other usual categories.
GOMA has previously been involved in the organisation of major award ceremonies in the past including the AMEN and Reel Awards.
