Asu Ekiye

Asu Ekiye is a Bayelsa born Gospel music luminary who had a very humble beginning. His primary education was at different parts of eastern Nigeria because of his father’s itinerant military career. His secondary education was at the prestigious Hussey College Warri.
After two years of preparation and vocational studies in administration, he headed to the University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt, where he obtained a BSC degree in accountancy. He enlisted as an auditor in a firm of chartered accountants and latter as an finance executive in EPIC a company in the oil service sector. It was there he gave heed to the call to music ministry.
For ten years Asu Ekiye worked as a music director in various churches in Port Harcourt even while working as an accountant. He became the musical engine room for most growing ministries in Port Harcout.  But in December 2001, he gave heed to the call to Music ministry and He released his popular hit, Woekilemo, regarded as the music that opened the Niger Delta or the south south people to the world. From then so much has happened.
He has had several international performances and has performed alongsides such world greats like, Kirk Franklin, Donie Mcclurkin, Cece Winans, Kurt Carr, Don Moen, Israel Houghton, Lionel Peterson etc.
Asu Ekiye has three musical albums to his credit. Back to Base 1, Back to base 2,  Back to Base 3 and Na God.

He is married to kunemofa and together they have three sons and a daughter. Marvelous, Akpofeowei,Embeleakpor and Princess Fagha.
AWARDS
Asu Ekiye was  nominated and won Channel O best Gospel Artist in South Africa. Asu Ekiye is the first and only artist  to win a Channel O Music Award twice in the gospel category.
As a renowned and talented African gospel artist, Asu Ekiye has received numerous awards all over the world.

Amen Awards- (Awards For Musical Excellence in Nigeria) – Gospel Artist of the Year 2003
