A representative of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former governor, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi and Senator Ahmed Mukhtar Aruwan alongside Muslim leaders, yesterday attended a church service at the ECWA Gospel Church in Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna.
Muslim youths and their leaders also attended the service. Daily Trust gathered that they were in the church following an invitation as part of efforts to strengthen religious harmony and peaceful co-existence among residents.
El-Rufai who was represented by the Director, Religious Affairs (Christian matters) Iliya Kudan, solicited for prayers and support from residents on efforts to move the state forward. Senators Makarfi and Aruwa commended the leadership of the church for their effort towards uniting the people.
They also appealed to traditional leaders and religious groups to endeavour to promote religious interactions for peaceful co-existence in all their dealings.
The senior pastor, Reverend Yunusa Nmadu, said the church was building on the foundation of peaceful and religious coexistence laid by Senator Makarfi when he was governor of the state.
Alhaji Shuaibu Abdullahi Nadabo who spoke on behalf of the religious and traditional leaders, stressed the need for peaceful co-existence and urged the people to be their brothers’ keepers.
