A former Vice Chancellor of the Redeemer’s University, Prof Oyewale Tomori, has identified simplicity, honesty, faith and absolute confidence in God as the secrets behind the success of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Tomori spoke yesterday at the 2nd Annual Public Lecture Series to mark Pastor Adeboye’s 74th birthday at the Haven Event Centre, Skypower Ground, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
The lecture, entitled: ‘Vision and Vision Carriers,’ brought together thousands of Christian faithful, captains of industry, rulers, academia, and diplomats, among others. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was represented by Pastor Bukky Jinadu.
Tomori, who is the president of the Nigeria Academy of Science (NAS), said when God called Pastor Adeboye, he surrendered all and God decided to do wonders through him.
He said the church, which with less than 40 parishes across Nigeria before his emergence as the general overseer, grew to over 40,000 parishes in 186 countries.
He praised the steps taken by the church in education, business, missions and so on.
Pastor Adeboye, who thanked God for sparing his life, said: “I want to express my deep gratitude to everyone who has honoured me today. I pray that the God who they have honoured in my life will honour and celebrate them.”
