STOP! Before you say “yes”

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
2 Corinthians 6:14-

There’s this young lady I would like to call Stacy. She was a dedicated and fervent Christian who met a brother in the church and within a short while, got married to him. Shortly after the wedding, she discovered through his attitude to her and the things of God, that this supposed spiritual brother wasn’t born again after all. It was just all a facade he used to get her attention; by this time, she already was direly for the “mistake.”

Marriage is serious business; it should not be taken casually. As a Christian, you don’t just see a brother or a sister and agree to get married, without ascertaining their spiritual stand. You must be sure he or she is born again before you say “yes” to any proposal. The reason why people are challenged today is that they have been/are unequally yoked.

You must understand that it is not about that man or woman being in church and serving in a service unit within the church, but how well this person loves and reverences God. One easy way to tell this is to be highly spiritual yourself. If you are spiritually sensitive, you will not fall prey to any deceit, because the Holy Spirit will reveal it to you beforehand.

You cannot afford to truncate your destiny all in the name of following the “trend of marriage.” More so, your marital journey is so long that you cannot afford to spend those numbers of years in regret. So, aside other perimeters you use to judge whether or not that person is right for you, let spirituality be your watchword and it will save you a whole lot of stress in the future.

Remain Blessed!
